He respects his father for building the groundwork for him to pursue a career in combat sports. "He started that for me, that engine going for me," Ulberg says.
For a long time, the fighter was in foster care, living with various families. When he was five, he moved in with his father and learned to cook, read, do boxing drills, and spell from him.
He stated that he was always breaking things. Every house he went to, he was known for breaking something or breaking someone."
However, Ulberg does not regret living in several foster families, he considers it as an opportunity to learn the difficult lessons as a child.
"In that regard, I had a head start, understanding that life can change in a variety of ways. You could be in a great home one year and being bullied by the older guy in the boys' home the next" he added.
Even though he does not live with his mother, they sometimes visit each other and have a healthy relationship. He mentions that he loves her.
"You never know when life will throw you a curveball,", Ulberg added. "I would have been in a different situation if I had been living with my mother at the time."
