Police said shooting apparently tied to altercation

A man in his 50s was shot to death in the incident.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A shooting early Sunday morning that left a man in his 50s dead at a DeKalb County apartment complex, was apparently the result of an altercation between a couple and the man who died, police said.

Officers responded to a person shot call from the Aspen Woods Apartments, located in the 3300 block of Flat Shoals Road at about 5 a.m., according to DeKalb County Police Officer Michaela Vincent.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 50s with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Vincent said that the shooting appears to have been the result of an altercation between a couple -- a male shooting suspect and a female -- and the victim.

The male suspect physically assaulted the female during the altercation before he drove off in an SUV, she said.
