Cooper began his music career in 1989 as part of the experimental rock band Seraph, which he was a member of until 1995. In 1996, he formed Skillet with Ken Steorts, and the band includes Cooper’s wife, Korey Cooper.
Skillet’s self-titled debut studio album was released in 1996, and the band has since had #1 singles with songs such as “Rebirthing,” “Hero,” and “Rise.” Their 2009 album Awake and 2013 album Rise both reached #1 on the Christian charts, and Rise also hit #4 on the Billboard 200 chart.
