Chris Herren’s Career and Personal Struggles
Chris Herren, a former professional basketball player from Fall River, Massachusetts, had a net worth of $100 thousand. He played for Durfee High School and was named the Boston Globe and Gatorade Player of the year in his senior season. Herren played college basketball for Boston College and Fresno State, where he earned several awards and recognitions. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and played for them and the Boston Celtics before playing professionally in various countries, including Italy, Turkey, Poland, Iran, and China.
Unfortunately, Herren struggled with drug addiction and was arrested multiple times for drug use. He overdosed once and crashed into a utility pole, dying for 30 seconds. However, he went to rehab and has been clean since 2008. Herren wrote the book Basketball Junkie: A Memoir, which was released in 2011 and was featured in an ESPN documentary Unguarded.
