Incognito's syndicated show "Posted on the Corner" will air from 7 p.m. to midnight and come out of Atlanta.
A few years ago, he worked at rival Streetz 94.5 but most recently was doing a night show that was heard on Radio One stations in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
"We here at Radio One Atlanta are elated to see these amazing talents lead Hot 107.9 into the new decade," said program director Tap Money in a press release. "Erin Rae and J-Nicks have worked very hard for these new opportunities, and we are all very proud of them. Incognito is no stranger to Atlanta, and I have no doubt he will charter nights to new and greater heights."
These moves reduced on-air staff for Urban One, which owns Hot 107.9, in response to the sudden sharp drop in ad revenue since the novel coronavirus pandemic hit the United States hard last month.
Rickey Smiley's syndicated show remains in the morning slot.
Swiney, in a post on his public Facebook page Wednesday, wrote: “Bittersweet day. Happy to see some of my colleagues get a shot to do some amazing things. Mixed emotions about giving something every part of me and still being cut out. Realizing the only way to get up, I mean all the way up, is to get knocked down, for the phoenix can never rise if there are no ashes. Chapter 1 was a 13-year-overnight-success story. I’m thinking Chapter 2 is gonna be an even wilder ride, but I’m ready.”
