Donald “POP” Smith Obituary, Death – The Retired Firefighters of Anne Arundel County are shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of Retired Firefighter III Donald “POP” Smith. Today, we would like to express our most heartfelt condolences to his family as they deal with the aftermath of this devastating loss. He passed away earlier, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication. Donald was a respected member of our firefighting community.
Both of his sons, David and Mark, served in the AACOFD and eventually retired from the department, carrying on his legacy of service. His dedication to duty was a family affair. Following Donald Smith’s departure, another corner block of our department has been removed from the equation. Everyone who had the honor of knowing him will always hold his memory in the highest regard. The tremendous impact that he had on our community is something that we acknowledge as we say our goodbyes with heavy hearts. Please accept our sincere condolences, Linda, Mark, and David.
