Description

This project investigates methane production by anaerobic digestion of macroalgae (seaweed). It is the most promising near-to-market algae bioenergy option.

The project optimises seaweed as a sufficient feedstock. It makes a convincing case for using seaweed in anaerobic digestion.

Seaweed needs to perform stably and reliably at scale over extended periods of reactor operation.

This programme optimises the anaerobic digestion process using seaweed as a feedstock. It demonstrates that sustained, high content methane production is achievable.
