TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that the southern part of Bali had been struck by two consecutive earthquakes on Monday, separated by only one minute at 07.36.20 WIB and 07.37.29 WIB.
BMKG head of earthquake and tsunami Daryono said the quakes were tectonic earthquakes that initially hit the Indian Ocean region at the coordinates of coordinates 9.66° South Latitude and 115.09° East Longitude and 9.66° South Latitude and 115.12° East Longitude.
The epicenter was detected at sea, 86 kilometers south of Denpasar City, Bali, from the depth of 10 kilometers and 13 kilometers.
"Taking into account the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a type of shallow earthquake due to plate subduction activity," said Daryono.
Regions that felt the earthquake include Kuta, Denpasar, Mataram, West Lombok, Central Lombok, South Kuta, Karangasem, and West Sumbawa.
